Languages should be learned subconsciously, not consciously. The research shows that subconscious learning of English is much better than consciously “studying” the language.
In countless studies, the result is always the same: students who learn English subconsciously learn faster and better than students who use traditional, conscious, analytical study methods.
So, what exactly are subconscious methods and what are the traditional conscious methods?
Well, you already know the old conscious way of learning English. You use your conscious brain to analyze English grammar, memorize English vocabulary, and translate English messages. This is the method you used in school. You consciously studied the mechanics of English, as if it was a car. You cut up English with your mind and then studied the parts…. word by word,… rule by rule.
The result, as you know, is that you know a lot about English grammar rules and translations– but you can’t speak well and you can’t understand native speakers.
Subconscious methods are more effective. These methods provide understandable English input to your brain… and then your subconscious brain does all of the rest of the work. Consciously, all you do is enjoy English stories, articles, conversations, movies, and novels. You never think about grammar rules. You never attempt to memorize words.
Of course, the Effortless English System is a subconscious learning system. You learn grammar by listening to our crazy Mini-Stories. We carefully repeat grammar patterns during the story… but you don’t think about any rules. You just listen and enjoy the story consciously… but subconsciously, your brain learns English grammar.
When you learn in this way, you can actually use the grammar too! Your spoken and written English grammar will improve tremendously. And it will be stress free. It will feel automatic– you’ll just say things better and write things better and it will feel effortless. You won’t be thinking about rules at all!
You must trust yourself. So many students are afraid to use subconscious methods because they don’t trust their own brains. They are afraid to relax and enjoy English learning. They are afraid to let the learning happen naturally and effortlessly. Unfortunately, these fearful students almost never learn to speak English well.
Don’t be one of those students. Change your way of learning. Learn English subconsciously and finally speak excellent English!

I have learned pure english with traditional lessons for 8 years. I couldn t speak at all until last summer I started reading your interesting mails and some stories, I made English speakers friends to talk with them. Now I can speak English very well and I need to forget the horrible traditional lessons and continiue reading and listening and speaking as a typical English boy.

indeed , it has been through experince I came to relaize that learning Enlish subconscously is the right method. Iused to record short English stories and poems and they were recoded in the voice of a native speaker ( my American friend). They used to ask about grammar meaning in them, but I never gave them ; I told them it is for the sake of making you familar with English pronucncation and speaking. And encouraged them to repate them till they feel they are like my American friend. This stimulates them and they competed with each other. Hoever,I told them ” I would explain to you meaning and grammer when you come and tell me you can speak and pronounce the stories and poems like David ( my friend).Then I started to give them how sentences are put together and meaning of them.
Repating this every week and changing the set of poems or stories resulted in making them aquire so many new words , grammar rules and pronunciation. In a three month time my students started to feel confident and their English improved singinficantly.

I am very frustrated , the more I am trying to speak english the worse I am speaking this language. I have been trying to learn this language for 5 years and I am trying very hard you can say intensely, in every aspect like reading, writing, listening, and speaking. But I am not getting success. I agree. Generally the students prepare a long roll of words to memorize. Then, at the first moment, they “learned” the words. But, on the next day, the students forget half of the roll. A week later only few words remain on their brain.
But when the students learn new words in a situation which envolves feeling and pleasure, certainly those remaing forever.

Absolutely this is coherent thought. It is tangible and experienced in our daily life. I think each one of us (who is non-English speaker)has encountered a difficulty in producing language but we didn’t why, now everything is clear and logical, so that what should we do actually is that, to learn English language automatically and easily through engage in direct interactions and communications with others who are speaking English fluently. but the only condition for activating this method is self-confidence or little of encouragement.

Thanks for regular mailing.The method of learning english is very easy to say or write like learn english by reading article,watching english movies,etc.But it become more difficult when you do these activites, due to the understanding problem.

Because If we learn drving, it may took one week, but it stored in memory less space, and actual learned time also less…And while the learning process you know the worst driving middle of learning, but you cannot drive now like a learner, so you forgot the beginner driving style…

I highly appreciate your pragmatic approach of teaching which is based on the “subconscious” activity of the human brain. I thank you also for your efforts to facilitate our learning in a remarkably effortless way.
However, I have two comments to make: 1) when I listen to the BBC radio/TV, I understand, say 95 per cent of what is broadcasted, while at the same time, when I watch the NBC, CNN and other US chanels, some 15 per cent of the speach is vertually lost. 2) many of the idioms I learned from your lessons seem to be pure American. I have never heard something alike when I watched the British chanels.
Hoping that I contribute to the improvement of your system of teaching, I remain,

P.S.: in United Europe, I mean within the countries of the EU, the English won definitely the language battle. However, one should make the choice between the English English and the American English in order to be better welcome when travelling, say on business, in the neighbour countries.
I shall appreciate to have your comments on this point.

In addition to my last post, I feel obliged to thank also Kristine & Joe for their efforts aimed at interpreting the real day to day life in the US in all those full of joy and optimism dialogues the ordinary people have. They remind me (in a way) some of the Arthur Hailey novels such as ‘Weels’, ‘Hotel’, ‘Airport’ etc., which gave us quite a real picture of how the working people in America live. Arthur Hailey is still considered here as being the American Emile Zola (the French novelist of the 19 cent.)

that’s absolute truth. everybody who wants to speak foreign language easily, quickly and efficiently must learn it subconsciously. that’s the secret.in fact that’s the only way how to do it really quickly and properly. and reason for it is that subconscious is the master of all functions in the body included our learning skills. our subconscious is the key to everything and that’s very important that you as a teacher know it. wish luck
